Air cathode: The research for the air cathode is focused on three areas:

  • Catalyst: MnOx, Ni and Co compounds are good candidates for oxygen reduction. The mechanism for catalytic Oxygen reduction is under investigation in conjunction with the impact of catalyst structure. Nano-size catalysts are of great interest.
  • Porous carbon substrate: our research is focused on understanding the impact of carbon material structure, including crystal structure and porosity, on the Oxygen reduction mechanism.
  • on: the mechanism of the carbon corrosion during fuel cell operation and its relationship to the carbon surface structure.
  • Gas-Diffusion –Electrode optimization: maximize the reaction interface, minimize flooding effect.
