Chemical nomenclature practice | Practice with naming ionic compounds, binary molecular compounds, and simple inorganic acids. There are three parts of this website that are very helpful with practicing chemical nomenclature. When you first go to the page, at the very top it says "Click here to begin" (click this one if you want to try their quiz of 100 different compounds to try naming), or you can click on "Practice" in the yellow section below, or you can click on "Naming Quiz." They also use some of the common names like bicarbonate or Latin names like ferrous. |
Skill drills | This link contains many individual practice and drill quizzes (e.g., significant figures, unit conversions, determining how many protons/electrons/neutrons in an isotope) where you try a problem that is generated by pressing a button, and then you submit your answer and find out if it is correct. The drills are set up to accompany a different text book than we use (Kotz & Treichel) than we use, but the order of material in that text book is very similar. |
Dimensional analysis practice | This is a fun game and quiz to teach and also practice doing dimensional analysis by the factor-label method (which is a fancy name for the technique I went over in lecture). You will need Shockwave on your computer to use this. |
